What is the process for applying for an M-1 visa?

  • Admission:

Be accepted by an SEVP-accredited vocational school and receive Form I-20 (M-1).

  • SEVIS Registration:

Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee ($220).

  • Form DS-160:

Complete the visa application form online.

  • Consular Fee Payment:

Pay the MRV fee of $185 to schedule your consular appointment.

  • Consular Interview:

Present documentation to the consular officer.

  • M-1 Visa Issuance:

If approved, this visa allows entry to the U.S. up to 30 days before the start of the course.
